Easy Steps To Make Activated Charcoal Face Mask Glowing Skin

Have you been hiding your face behind scarves and calling it “winter fashion”? Get your skin glowing this season by using a charcoal face mask.

As the new year dawns, don’t just dump all your charcoal into a cosy bonfire; use it for your skin instead. A charcoal mask is one of the best ways to rejuvenate your skin and make it look fabulous. Made from active charcoal powder (seriously, we were kidding when we were talking about the bonfire charcoal), these masks help remove blackheads while also brightening your skin. It basically acts as a magnet for all the dirt that’s trapped under your skin and apart from its cosmetic uses, it also has a whole bunch of medicinal uses like treating poisoning (hopefully you won’t have to use that).
Here are some easy recipes for making a charcoal face mask:

1. Charcoal and bentonite clay mask:

  •  To start with, open two capsules of activated charcoal and mix it with a teaspoon of bentonite clay
  •  Bentonite clay is essentially a clay that’s made of a ton of calcium so it helps nourish your skin
  •  Add a few drops of water until the whole mixture becomes pasty
  •  When using this mask, you should ideally start with a spot test because although these ingredients are totally organic, you can’t really predict how they affect your skin
  •  Just rub a dab of it on the inside of your wrist
  •  Once you’ve confirmed that the mask isn’t harming your skin, you need to wash your face by using a mild cleanser
  •  Pat your face until its slightly moist, but not completely dry
  •  Apply the mask and let it dry naturally
  •  Once you’ve taken the mask off, your skin might feel slightly dry
  •  Don’t freak out because that’s normal. Just apply some jojoba oil or Olay Moisturizing Lotion to combat it

2. Charcoal and glue mask:

  •  Although this may sound a bit bizarre, using children’s glue with activated charcoal for skin care can give you fantastic results in no time
  •  Use two capsules of charcoal powder along with the glue and a few drops of peppermint oil to counteract any extra dryness or itchiness
  •  As was the case with the earlier recipe, you should first use a test patch on your skin to see if it’s suiting you
  •  Once you’ve confirmed that it’s not messing your skin up, you can apply it to your face after cleaning it mildly
  •  This mask will dry up faster than the charcoal and bentonite mask.
  •  Once it’s dry, you can peel it off from your face (like you’d do with a regular face peel) and watch how it pulls out all your blackheads and impurities

Making an activated charcoal face mask can do wonders for your skin. However, while it works really well, you shouldn’t really use it more than once a week to prevent sucking out all the nutrients from your skin!
